"Antipas Martyr was a well researched and well written story of what it was like in the days the early Christian church. I found it to be inspirational and also hard to put down.

It took me a couple of chapters to get into the book and from there on it just got better. Well researched for the time setting, a bit of romance the history, and a challenge to live a life worth of dying for. Although fiction I felt like I was almost walking alongside Antipas and the other characters. Well written. A pleasure to read.

The book flowed well from beginning to end with interesting, well-developed characters living in a well-researched setting. Tension in the plot rose steadily through the pre- and post-coversion life of Antipas and was resoundingly resolved at his martyrdom. The book "felt" real and was decidedly devotional and historical in its content. It was difficult to put it down until I had reached the end. Even then, the details of the martyrdom itself were such that I marveled for some time at the grace of God that is so sufficient for us. Well done, Sharon!

The book Antipas:Martyr was inspiring to me as he reminded me of Paul, back in the days of when Paul's main focus was preaching the Word Of God to the churches, no matter the cost. It did seem like a real live story. You captioned his heart and love for God and the people. I felt like I was there.
I loved it Sharon. Can't wait to read your next book.

When I first heard that this was a historical Christian fiction novel, I thought, "Oh, no, not history." I was never sucessful with history. But, Sharon wrote it and I just HAD to read it. And I did! And within the first two chapters, I was hooked. Yes, the title does give the end away but oh, getting to that ending was quite a journey! I've found it to be inspiring and challenging and have been encouraging other to read it. Looking forward for the next one!!

I enjoyed the book and the characters. I thought the interaction with Paul was interesting.
One fault, if you are looking for any, is the lack of employment for Antipas himself. How did he live and feed his family? Historically and Biblically, everyone had a trade and did something. ( Paul had a job as a tent maker.) The ministerial role he portrayed was great, but I cannot see his 'flock' being able to fully support him.

Looking for a new book to read? I recommend "Antipas Martyr" for excellent interest, realistic characters, a plot with escalating suspense, innovative description, and accurate historical context. Well worth the read! Linda

Barb makes a good point. I was thinking in terms of Mordicai supporting him so that he could focus fully on the work of the ministry. Maybe Barb's idea would have been more authentic. Love all your comments!!

Good read. This book made me look at myself and challenged me to live a more committed Christian life. It was easy to get caught up in the drama that was unfolding.

Sharon, reading your blogs on F.B., just knew I would want to read Antipas Martyr. I will admit historical fiction, is not my favorite reading material, but I couldn't put it down, lol finish it in one night. Usually I give my books away after I read them once, not this time I want to reread it at lease once more, then I will part with it (maybe). What this book did for me,was I no longer feel that the Old Testament is just plan boring, I need to read with a different attitude, the New Testament was always my favorite and still is but I don't mine reading the Old Testament. Hope to read more of your books in the future. LOL can I ask you to write a few fiction storys on people in this day and age and how they can use Gods Words to fall back on. By the way Janette Oke is my favorite Christian Author, but you are right up there with her, Can't wait for a second one to be publish. GOD BLESS YOUR WRITING

A fabulous work of art! I enjoyed the story and the messages immensely. I was captured by the relationships between Antipas and the other characters, the plot and choice of words as it was easy to picture the descriptions. God has challenged me in my faith as a result of reading about Antipas's journey. I especially loved the ending. Endings can sometimes be disappointing but this one was victorious. Looking forward to more! P.S. I'm proud to be your daughter in law!

As mentioned earlier Sharon, I loved your book and couldn't put it down either until I finished it from cover to cover. You made the characters come alive and I just had to keep reading to find out how Antipas was going to make out with his many trials and tribulations. Very well written – excellent!
Can hardly wait for the next one!! Carol

I absolutely loved the book. The high light was that day in August of 2011 when we visited with you, Sharon. We truly miss you and George, our former neighbours.
I found it nearly impossible to put down. My journey with Antipas was interrupted by surgery but only for a couple of days. This is the kind of book that once read isn't left to collect dust on the book shelf. It can be enjoyed and shared over and over again.
Bravo!! Please say there is more to come.

Sharon I just finished Antipas:Martyr – Oh Sharon I was to taken with this book that I could not put it down. Rarely does a book "get to me" as this one did. I literally walked beside Antipas right through to the end. I was angry as his father kicked him out of the family, in fear as Horatious stalked him, and uplifted as Epaphras taught him about Christ. I walked with him with fear and trepidation as he went back to his home town of Pergamum. The sweetness of Eunice and the love of his Christian family helped to tip the scales of my emotions as the end of the story came near. I confess I bawled at the end, but uplifted as the chants of Jesus' name was said over and over again by the Christians. I felt sadness as father Julian realized too late that he had lost his son. Excellent read Sharon, and I shall look for more of your work!
