Hello everyone!
I am so excited to be able to share with you a short excerpt from my book coming out called "Antipas: Martyr"…
It had rained during the night, but morning dawned bright and clear with raindrops sparkling on the grass around his home. The air wafting through his window was fragrant with the scent of flowers from his mother’s garden nodding their vibrant heads in the soft breeze. He watched lazy clouds gliding overhead. Without was peaceful; within was turmoil and he was reluctant to begin his day.
His servant slipped quietly into the room.
“The master awaits your presence,” he spoke respectfully.
“I’m not ready.” Antipas crossed his arms and rested his head on the window ledge.
“I wouldn’t keep the master waiting,” the servant warned. When Antipas did not respond, the man exited as quietly as he’d entered.
Antipas knew his father would not be pleased but still he lingered.
Finally his father, Julian, made an appearance in his room, an unheard-of occurrence. He glanced around before he fixed his gaze on his son.
Antipas heard him enter the room but kept his back to the door. His shoulder muscles tightened and he gritted his teeth. Fear knotted in his stomach.
“Antipas, you delay.” The words were stern and harsh.
“Yes, Father.” His shoulders slumped as his head went down.
“There is no more time. We must leave at once. I would almost think you didn’t want to go.”
“I don’t want to go,” Antipas spun around to face his father, chin held high. “I’d rather play with my friends, or go for a walk, or chase the dogs, anything but this.” He flung out his arms as he hurled the words at his father.
“Antipas, you shock and shame me. You will go and you will not disgrace me or the family . . .”
Watch for the launch of Antipas: Martyr to discover where his father was escorting him and why he was reluctant to go. Follow him on his exciting and often dangerous journey in ancient
